Graziella & Hector’s Love Story

Hilda and Mario de la Guardia introduced us at the club in Cuba and 59 years later we are still together, and most importantly, we still like and love each other.

How do you show love to each other everyday?

G: We do nice things for each other, we’re very affectionate, and we always tell each other “I Love You.” We love being together

H: Small things like a short kiss or smile that become a nice habit, that tends to ease every day life pressures.

What moment did you know he/she was the one?

G: Right after we met.

H: There was not just one moment, it was a process that created trust and true love in place of the usual initial infatuation.

How would he/she describe you in one word?

G: I have no idea.

H: Caring

IMG_0356

Who is your partner’s celebrity crush?

G: I have no idea

H: Willie- William Levy

If your wife/partner could choose one thing of yours to get rid of, what would he/she choose?

G: Stop turning off the lights!

H: The fingers that turn the electric lights on. She claims that I turn too many lights on.

How would you complete this sentence? My partner is a natural-born _______

G:  Gentleman

H: Loader/Organizer

IMG_1652

Define his/her perfect day.

G:  Watching football or boating, especially with his kids.

H: Day or night sharing with her family, especially children and grandchildren.

What is his/her zodiac sign?

G: Aries

H: Capricorn

Share your favorite memory with your partner.

G: The day we met and he was going to the movies and I was going to a club party. When I got to the party he was waiting for me. It was a beautiful surprise and evening. This memory is engraved in my brain!

H: When talking about a 59-year relationship it is difficult to isolate one instance as a favorite memory. In our lives together we have enjoyed the most the opportunities that we have had to travel as a family with our children in the U.S and overseas. One occasion that I can say we both enjoyed, the two of us alone was a 12-day trip to Italy in the 1970’S. It was a very enjoyable experience and we both had a great time together.

John Paul & Joseph

How do you show love to each other every day?

JP: Just hangout all the time and get food for each other.

JOJO: Having each others backs.

What is your favorite memory together?

JP: One of my favorite memories together was highschool graduation because we both went through a lot during highschool and when we graduated it was like we conquered everything together from day 1 to that moment.

JOJO: Probably the day we moved JP into Clemson. I was really proud of him, I know how much courage and bravery it took to go to a completely different state with no friends and just make it; it’s something i couldn’t have done so i admire him for sticking it out.

How would your brother/sister describe you in one word?

JP: Awesome

JOJO: He’d probably say crazy or obsessive.

What is your brother/sister’s pet peeve?

JP: Me not cleaning up after myself.

JOJO: My sarcasm

3113_628043004808_2749628_n

What animal is your brother/sister most like?

JP: Koala

JOJO: Bulldog

If your brother/sister could have lunch with any famous person who would it be?

JP: Jennifer Aniston or Joey Swoll

JOJO: G-Eazy

If your brother/sister were the top player in any sport, what would it be?

JP:  Basketball

JOJO:  Basketball

225348_10150624309360601_4043180_n

How are you alike?

JP:  We both love playing sports, boating, hanging out with our friends, and partying. We have the same type of humor (he’s a little more sarcastic than I am) same goals, and we’re both naturally awesome. Most importantly, we love eachother and will be there for eachother every time.

JOJO:  We both love sports and similar movies.

How are you different?

JP: He’s neat and I’m not. He works out and I don’t. I’m more open-minded and optimistic.

JOJO: I am more party fun and he is more chill fun.

Mom & Me Goals #EverydayIsLoveDay

Written by , Posted in Alina's World

aleandmom5

Liliana & Alejandra

How do you show love to your mother/daughter everyday?

L: With lots of “I Love you” throughout the day.

A: I talk to my mom every single day about 4-6 times a day and every single time we speak I tell her I love her. Never once do we hang up without saying “I love you”.

What is your favorite memory with your mother/daughter?

L: Being present with Ale for the birth of my beautiful granddaughter, Gabriella and precious grandson, Alexander.

A: My mom and I have a beautiful relationship, a bond like no other.  She is my best friend.  We look out for each other like no one else. When I was younger and Super Nintendo was the thing… mom and I would stay up late playing (even when I had friends over they loved hanging out with mom) and we would play till we got ahead in the game… then we would take a donut break.  My mom would take us late in the night to Dunkin Donuts to buy some yumminess!

aleandmom4

If your mom/daughter could have any super power, what would it be?

L: Making things happen instantaneously.

A: The super power of… Regenerative Healing. My mom is a Super Mom, Super Sister, Super Wife, Super EVERYTHING!  There is nothing mom can’t do and she does it all well.  Throughout the years, mom has been the savior of the family.  She has been the guardian all the way from my new born brother whom had a stroke in my mother’s womb in 1990, to my great grandmother and grandmother both dealing with health complications, and onto my  aunt with uterine cancer. All in all, mom is there for everyone 100%.  If mom had this super power of “Regenerative Healing”, it would alleviate her stress level and make the healing process of her loved ones so much quicker.

If you could trade places with your mom/daughter for a day, what would you do different?

L: Absolutely nothing!

A: I personally don’t think I would do anything different in mom’s shoes.  I love who she is and what she represents.  It would be nice to trade places to give mom a less stressful life for one day.  She deserves that and so much more!

If your mom/daughter could be a celebrity, who would they be?

L: Audrey Hepburn

A: Jamie Lee Curtis

aleandmom2

How would your mother/daughter describe you in one word?

L: Caring

A: Loving

How are you alike?

L: Optimistic, family oriented, caring, loyal.

A: You never really know how alike you are to your mom until you have kids of your own.  I have found that my mom taught me so much while growing up and all those “little details” like baking, and holiday traditions, I am also doing with my children.

 How are you different?

L: I have a strong character and she is more passive.

A: I am a “NOW” person. If something needs to get done I want to do it “NOW” and not wait till tomorrow.   Mom will be ok in waiting a day, or 2 or 3…  She calls me psycho!

Lourdes & Jason’s Love Story

Jason and I met through a mutual friend on a night out. I never thought I would meet my future husband that night. I agreed to go out that night only because my friend begged me to accompany her. That night we connected and talked every day after that. We loved being together even if it meant sitting on the couch watching movies. After 6 months of dating he proposed on a Christmas Eve that included our closest friends, champagne and fireworks. We were married 9 months later and we just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary last September. We have 2 beautiful little girls and we wouldn’t want it any other way. As our wedding song states, “I could not ask for more”.

How do you show love to each other everyday?

L: By holding hands randomly throughout the day. Even when we are surrounded by stress or chaos.

J: With a morning hug and kiss to start the day.

What moment did you know he/she was the one?

Samantha & Hunter’s Love Story

Hunter was my first date (and only date) on Match! We’ve been together two years and engaged for about three months now. Our first date was actually very awkward and I wasn’t sure if I would keep seeing him but my Mom told me to give him another chance and I am glad I did! He can be very corny and over-the-top so I had a hard time believing he was real at first, but when the corniness never faded and each date was better and more thoughtful than the last I knew he was sincere! About a year into our relationship he got a job in another state and moved away, so we’ve been doing the long distance thing for almost half our relationship. It is very difficult but I also think it brought us closer and helped us appreciate each other more. He truly is the most thoughtful and good-hearted man I’ve ever known and I am so lucky to have found him.

12232889_10205754521958263_2265386378717323843_o

How do you show love to each other everyday?

S: Since we are long distance it’s a little more difficult to show love everyday in the traditional sense, but we always send each other good morning/good nigh texts and talk on the phone whenever we have a chance!

HI make sure to text her first thing when I wake up and right before she falls asleep everyday.

What moment did you know he/she was the one?

S: When he drove an hour to take me to get ice cream! Seriously though, as cheesy as it sounds, I think I knew after our first kiss. It took him four dates for him to build up the courage to do it and I remember texting my friend after “I think I found my husband.”

HThere wasn’t one clear moment. It was a culmination of lots of little moments. One day, I just knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

10885160_10203722923729577_833820950644815231_n

How would he/she describe you in one word?

S: Silly

H: Gentleman

If your wife/partner could choose one thing of yours to get rid of, what would he/she choose?

S: Probably my giant stuffed animal named Big Bunny. I’ve slept with him every night since I was 8 years old. He’s old and has seen better days but I can’t let him go!

H: Probably my recliner. She already got rid of my old shoes.

How would you complete this sentence? My partner is a natural-born _______

S: GPS. Seriously- he can navigate anywhere without an issue.

H: Artist. She’s so creative with everything she does. Photography, gift giving, problem solving, everything has a creative touch.

 Define his/her perfect day.

S: Sleep in late, eat a big home-cooked breakfast, go to a Packers game or watch one on TV, stop at a bar after for beer, pool and pizza, end the night on the couch with a good movie and me (hopefully).

H: Any day where we get to spend it together, exploring a new area or city.

 What is his/her zodiac sign?

S: Gemini

H: Sagittarius

Share your favorite memory with your partner.

S: That time he took me to Paris and proposed at the Palace Versailles.

H: Well that would definitely be when I proposed to her in Versailles. I proposed in the gardens outside the palace. It was pretty magical.

Brunch for your Valentine

Written by , Posted in Alina's World, Events

Skip the long wait times at restaurants this holiday and treat your sweetie to an exquisite homemade brunch. To help you plan the perfect brunch, we have put together a five-item menu that will impress your valentine. Who doesn’t love mimosas and french toast?

Cocktail: Amour a Mosa

Kick off your romantic brunch with a Mosa.

Recipe By: Stephen Phillips

original_FLVN-Amour-a-Mosa_s3x4.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.966.1288

Ingredients

1 chilled bottle of Champagne
1 1/2 oz. vodka, infused with orange
1 oz. chilled mango juice
1 oz. chilled orange juice
1 fresh viola, pansy or nasturtium flower, depending on your color mood (these are edible, but make sure no chemicals have been added)

Preparation

1.Pour vodka and juices in a chilled fluted glass, and fill the rest of the glass with Champagne.

2.Garnish by placing one of the edible flowers atop the drink.

Red Velvet French Toast Stuffed with Vanilla Cheesecake:

This French toast will take you to Red Velvet heaven.

Recipe By: Cafe Delites

9c5f4b08_1._Red-Velvet-French-Toast-14.xxxlarge

Ingredients

4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tablespoon vinegar set aside and allowed to “sour” for 5 minutes)
2 tablespoons sugar (or natural granulated sweetener)
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons red food colouring (30 mls | 1oz)
8 slices bread, halved (so you end up with 16 bread halves)

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake Filling:
8oz (250g) tub reduced fat cream cheese
2 tablespoons sugar (or natural granulated sweetener)
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
Fresh raspberries

Preparation

  1. For French Toast: Whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, sugar, vanilla, food coloring and cocoa in a shallow bowl until smooth and lump free.
  2. Alternatively, combine these ingredients in a small blender or magic bullet cup; blend until smooth and transfer the egg wash to a large shallow bowl.
  3. Dip bread slices into egg wash and press lightly a few times to soak through completely. Flip each slice and repeat with each bread until slices all are evenly coated.
  4. Heat a large nonstick pan/skillet over low-medium heat and fry the bread in batches of 3 or 4, turning once until just cooked through. Remove and place onto a warmed plate.

For Cheesecake Filling: While french toast is frying, make your cheesecake filling. Combine the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla paste in a medium sized bowl, and whip until light and fluffy. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of filling onto 6 toast halves; spread to evenly coat; top with remaining toast halves to create a sandwich. Drizzle with melted chocolate; top with remaining cream (optional); dust with icing/confectioners sugar and serve with berries

Pan-fried Fingerling potatoes with Bacon

Delicious, crispy brunch side dish.

Recipe By: Kacey

Pan-Fried-Fingerling-Potatoes-with-Bacon-21

Ingredients

1½ lbs fingerling potatoes, sliced into ¼-1/2 inch rounds.

6-7 slices of bacon (I used half of a 375 g package) sliced lengthwise and then into smaller pieces.

Salt and pepper

1 tbsp. freshly chopped rosemary

5-7 sage leaves (depending on size)

1-2 garlic cloves, minced

Preparation

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook for about 8-10 minutes, or until fork tender (do not overcook!) Drain and rinse under cool water to stop the cooking process. Pat dry.
  2. Heat a cast iron pan over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until desired doneness is reached, about 10 minutes. Remove from pan (but leave all that bacon grease in the pan!)
  3. Add the potatoes and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. You want a nice golden brown colour to them.
  4. Stir in bacon, rosemary, garlic, and sage. I left the sage whole for added flavour, and it can be easily picked out. Cook for a couple of minutes or until garlic is nice and aromatic.
  5. Serve.

Hashbrown Egg Nests with Avocado

  2. Grease the muffin pan and divide hash brown mixture. Use your fingers to pack them tightly and shape them into nests
  3. Bake at 425 degrees F or until the edges have browned and the cheese has melted, about 15 minutes
  4. Crack a medium egg into each nest and season with salt and pepper to taste
  5. Top with crumbled bacon, 1 tablespoon cheddar cheese and parsley
  6. Bake at 350 degrees F until the egg whites set, about 13 to 16 minutes

Omelet Bar

Create your own omelet with hearty veggies, your choice of meat, and cheese. YUM!

Recipe By: Chef Menus

f1f28c66314e6e994fd594e807ef2dcb

The Set-Up

You will need space for:
A sturdy heatproof table (no smaller then card table size)
One or two stand alone electric cooktops
One or two 8-inch omelet pans or non-stick skillets
Mixing bowls and forks for beating the eggs. Two rubber spatulas or wooden forks for cooking
Paper towels for wiping pans.Damp towel to wipe up spills
Bowls and spoons to hold filling items. Line up bowls on the table so guests can choose their favorites
Serving plates on or near the omelet bar

The Fillings

Prepare as many or as few filling items as you wish. For each omelet, in total, add about 2-3 tablespoons of one or several fillings. Avoid over stuffing of adding too many moist ingredients. This will reduce the risk of the omelet tearing when you flip it out of the pan

Cheese: shredded or crumbled cheddar. jack, blue, feta, parmesan

Vegetables: Finely chopped mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, fresh spinach leaves, plum tomatoes, sweet pepper, avocado, hot pepper. shallots. green onion, red onion and garlic. For best flavor, vegetables should be seasoned and steamed or lightly sautéed in butter. If that’s not possible, make sure they are finely diced or chopped. Season when placed on omelet, before folding.

Seasonings: Salt, freshly ground pepper, cayenne, chili powder, curry powder.
Seasonings can be lightly beaten directly into the eggs or scattered on top of the other fillings

Meats/seafood: Crisply cooked bacon, fully cooked ham, prosciutto, browned and drained italian or pork sausage, small cooked shrimp, crabmeat or lobster

Recipe By: Maria and Josh

Watermelon-Blackberry-and-Mint-Salad-4 Ingredients

3 cups cubed watermelon
1 1/2 cups blackberries

Meet the Croquis

Written by , Posted in Alina's World, Behind the Scenes, New Arrivals

Cover

It’s time to add a creative flare to your wardrobe and start shopping for one of this season’s most popular trend: art in fashion! Designers all the way from Hermes to Céline showed colorful,  printed versions of beautiful art and imagery printed creatively onto their latest collections. So of course, we had to come up with one of our very own! For Peace Love World it is important for every item to represent authenticity and have a valuable meaning. Our incredible Graphic Designer, Amanda Garcia, put her very own fresh spin on this special swath of fabric and created these amazing croquis. These accessories for spring have recently arrived, and to say we are utterly obsessed with it, would be an absolute understatement!

Amanda

Where are you from?

Miami, FL baby!

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Free spirit

Artistic

Loyal

When did you know that you wanted to work in the fashion industry?

I knew in high school. I was shopping for a prom dress, when I walked into this store that sold one of kind pieces from local artist. I tried on this dress that looked interesting, and once I had it on I felt so confident. It was that moment that I knew I wanted to design clothes. For me it was all about the emotion I felt and wanting everyone to feel the same. I went to class the next day and asked my art teacher what I needed to do to be a fashion designer.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

The quote I have tattooed on my arm “ not all those who wander are lost.”

Describe a day in the life of you.

I first start my day with a 5-minute cuddle session with my Bi Polar dog Roly. Mornings are when he’s the sweetest, so I take advantage. I make coffee that I ONLY have two sips from and leave the rest…maybe three. I’m a bit of a weirdo but I find a moment to say positive affirmations in the mirror. If I forget I say them at home, I say them in the mirror of my car. I swear it works.

I make my way to the PLW headquarters where the team and I make magic happen. The best part of my day is when I get to Crossfit and WOD. Working out is a huge part of my life and the next best thing to designing and my art.

What is your favorite part of being on the Peace Love World team?

The team. I’m surrounded by my closest friends everyday. The creative environment we have going on there is truly special

Peace Love World has a variety of collections all different with one common message. Which collection do you think represents you the most?

It’s hard to choose just one. They all represent me on way or another. I’m more drawn to the AV line and L2L light collections.

Is there a specific symbol that you connect with?

Love. Love is everything.

What is on the top of your bucket list?

Rebuild a 1969 Stingray Corvette! My dream car.

Where are you most inspired/ what inspires you the most?

I find a lot of inspiration in the things I love art, film, books etc. Being outdoors and in nature really opens up doors creatively. People can be a huge inspiration for me. I like to be around free thinkers and artists. Often this creates and amazing flow of inspiration that bounces back and forth between people or groups.

What’s an example of a moment in your life when you followed your instincts—and it paid off?

I’m big on following my gut. I believe your soul knows better. I can’t think of anything specific.

When and where do you feel like your most comfortable, genuine self?

I feel most comfortable in the art studio I’m slowly building. It’s a space i can be completely myself. Only positive energy lives there. I am free from fear, and completely at peace.

What’s the one piece of clothing that you would consider your signature?

The Gabi peak skirt. I always knot it to give it a draped look. Some combat boots and stack of wooden bracelets.

What is the last book you read?

The Four Agreements.

What is your favorite part of living in Miami?

I have a strong connection with the water. I’ve always told myself I will always live near the ocean. I love that the beach is my backyard.

Follow her on Instagram here!

Gaby

Where are you from?

Born in Miami and grew up in El Salvador.

 Describe yourself in 3 words.

Wanderlust

Friendly

Passionate

When did you know that you wanted to work in the fashion industry?

It’s hard to pinpoint a specific moment where I realized that I wanted to work in the fashion industry. I would say for me, I have always loved playing dress up and experimenting with different trends; fashion has always been my passion.

What would the title of your autobiography be?

Life is Good.

Describe a day in the life of you.

I wake up and immediately have my cup of coffee (without caffeine, I would not make it through my day!). I spend the next 40 minutes having breakfast, packing my lunch and getting ready for work. Once at PLW Headquarters, my day can take various turns…. between approving artwork, creating graphics or any miscellaneous work that needs to be done that day. After work, I tend to break a sweat with a good class of cross fit. From here, I finally head home, cook, have dinner and try to be in bed by 11PM.

What is your favorite part of being on the Peace Love World team?

I enjoy being able to share positive messages to the world through designs.

Peace Love World has a variety of collections all different with one common message.  Which collection do you think represents you the most?

Classic Tees.  I am obsessed with tops, for their fabric and simplicity. I love that you can dress them down or dress them up, which I am all for. (T-shirts are a must in my closet!)

Is there a specific symbol that you connect with?

A heart/love, because without love you have nothing. Love is what its all about!

What is on the top of your bucket list?

Working in the fashion industry but would also love to find an outlet to give back to my country and its people. To me, giving back is pivotal, even if that means being kind to the people around you.

Where are you most inspired/ what inspires you the most?

There is nothing that brings me more joy than traveling and exploring new places, new foods and new cultures; “Travel is the only thing you buy in life that makes you richer “- unknown. It is traveling that I find myself the happiest and the most inspired.

What’s an example of a moment in your life when you followed your instincts—and it paid off?

Again traveling… Sometimes finding the perfect moment to travel is not as easy with our hectic schedules… But taking that spontaneous move to just book a trip always pays off in my book…Spain turned out to be the best idea this past fall!

When and where do you feel like your most comfortable, genuine self?

Home, surrounded by my family.

What’s the one piece of clothing that you would consider your signature?

A Blazer…

What is the last book you read?

Hard to admit but 50 Shades of Grey.

What is your favorite part of living in Miami?

The sun and that everyone is from somewhere else in Miami, makes me feel a little closer to home knowing that most people are like me; with one foot in each place.

Lourdes
Where are you from?

From sunny yet unpredictable Miami, Florida.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Optimistic

Loyal

Funny  (I personally think I’m hilarious)

When did you know that you wanted to work in the fashion industry?

Describe a day in the life of you.

I live at the beach so waking up to the ocean air and sitting on my balcony is a great way to start the day. After getting ready for work, I make my Peanut butter/banana protein smoothie, jam my way through traffic to the 70’s and 80’s on my way to work, most days are pretty busy and time seems to fly by, as I head home hoping to miss the traffic I call my grandparents or my parents to see how their day was, hopefully home in time for sunset or walk on the beach, bake some salmon and veggies for dinner, dream about baking but I don’t because everyone at work is trying to loose weight, sometimes I’ll relax with a green tea face mask, sketch out ideas left over in my head from the day, lay in bed and check my email, say a few prayers and start over again the next day.

The scarf is a comfortable, white, chic scarf featuring all the beautiful women from the Design Team as well as visionary, creator, and designer Alina Villasante. All the stylish girls were sketched as croquis, which are rough preliminary drawings or sketches, and printed on the scarf. Amanda was able to perfectly capture each one of their every-day styles and personify who they really are. Her work made the scarf ultimately come to life! The Croqui design is also available as a casual, lightweight Tote. The Tote is also one of this spring’s trendiest bags, and the palette of the season features whites, blacks, and creams. In this special place, we call Peace Love World, is where all the magic happens; and if one thing is undeniable about the Design Team that Alina Villasante has created, is that everyone is inspired by Love and being able to share such positive messages with others through their designs.
